APESMA's National Assembly has approved the appointment of four external directors for the board of Chifley Business School. The move follows a decision by National Assembly to strengthen the range of expertise on the board and links with industry.

Meanwhile APESMA's Chief Executive John Vines has been appointed as Chairman. Other APESMA nominees to the board include APESMA National President, Tim Griffin, and Senior Vice-President, Dario Tomat, as well as Chifley Business School's Chief Executive, Neil Edwards.

The mix of internal and external appointments will ensure that Chifley focuses on the needs of APESMA members, says Vines. "It will also help Chifley to develop its links with industry and help it to become a major independent business school in Australia," he says.

The new external directors for the business school are: Ian Cordiner—a principal with executive search firm Cordiner King. Cordiner is an engineer and previously held senior corporate positions;
