Chifley Business School hosts City of Swan's inaugural graduation ceremony

City of Swan logoChifley Business School has worked hand-in-hand with the City of Swan—the largest local authority in Metropolitan Perth, to deliver the Diploma of Project Management in-house.

Charlotte England, Corporate Relations Manager for Chifley was responsible for the implementation of the program. Working closely with Tony Holmes—the program facilitator and Margaret Collins, Training and Development Coordinator from the City of Swan, the program was customised and tailored to meet and reflect organisational goals.

Margaret Collins asserted that the skills acquired have reflected and translated very quickly back into their working environment. "The program has provided a platform for our employees to validate existing skills and build new competencies, which have enabled them to contribute strategically", commented Margaret.

The program was centred on combined learning practices from interactive learning to case studies and workplace-based projects, which contributed to a very involved and motivating learning environment, resulting in a high level of completion.

On 13 July 2006, 13 proud City of Swan employees graduated with the Diploma of Project Management, completing 7 modules over 9 months.

City of Swan will be undertaking the Diploma of Project Management for 15 more employees beginning November 2006.

GHD and Chifley to offer world's first vocational asset management qualification

GHD Pty Ltd (GHD) and Chifley Business School (Chifley) have launched the world's first Vocational Graduate Certificate in Physical Asset Management.

GHD Pty Ltd has full accreditation for this program under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) and will provide the certified trainers and training course content. Chifley Business School will provide the student administration services.

Australia's total asset physical stocks are worth around $2.86 trillion1 across a range of sectors including buildings and facilities, transport, water, mining, energy, defence, health and community services employing thousands of people.

Asset managers have an important responsibility to the global community to meet service expectations, whilst controlling the impacts of business on the environment and making investment decisions that create value.

The course is offered to graduates with industry experience or experienced asset managers.

GHD Chairman, Clive Weeks says, "Asset management is an important and transferable capability which is in great demand by industry. Smart asset management can help communities grow, reduce overall costs, extend the life of assets and improve asset performance. It can even help trains run on time!"

The course is based on the knowledge gained through GHD's 30 year experience assisting clients improve asset performance. GHD has shared its asset management knowledge through:

Successful completion of the course will provide 4 units of credit towards the APESMA MBA, one of the largest and most successful distance learning MBA programs in Australia.
