Ergon Energy
Ergon Energy is a government owned corporation currently servicing 650,000 customers across a vast service area with a total asset base of $7.1 billion and around 4,500 employees. Our role as an energy distributor is to keep responding to change and to ensure an efficient, reliable electricity supply for regional Queensland.
Scope
To achieve our corporate goals, the business needed a program to develop and recognise the existing skills of our frontline talent. We needed a customised program that would align with our corporate Leadership Development framework and national competency standards. Most importantly, we required a provider who could offer flexible delivery options to suit the schedules of frontline managers across many regional and remote locations.
The Program
The Management Foundations Program was developed five years ago in conjunction with Chifley Business School to address these needs. The program enables the attainment of a range of nationally recognised awards—Certificate III in Frontline Management, Certificate IV in Frontline Management and the Diploma of Management.
Outcome
The program was completely redesigned in 2008 to ensure ongoing relevance to business directives. To date, six cohorts of over 70 participants per cohort have, or are, currently completing the program. The articulation pathway has proven to be effective in giving our frontline leaders the skills and confidence they need to lead and manage their teams and their projects.
Chifley's facilitators and expert staff have always been professional in their approach from developing the program to managing the interactions with participants of the program.
Ergon Energy takes leadership development very seriously—after all, our leaders shape our future. Chifley Business School is a valued partner for delivering our successful and highly coveted Management Foundations Program.
