ALS Coal Division

ALS Coal Division is Australia's leading provider of analytical and coal technology services to the black coal industry. ALS Coal Division performs a wide range of services including independent inspections, coal value and resource optimisation, coal quality analysis, contract coal processing and environmental solutions.

Scope

ALS Coal Division's first and second line supervisors needed to develop their management skills so that they could step up to higher positions in the growing business. Our locations throughout New South Wales and Queensland meant it was difficult to find a training provider that could accommodate our national training needs. We required not only a flexible and economical provider, but one that could offer facilitators with expert knowledge of our industry.

The Program

Chifley Business School developed and customised the Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) program for our frontline managers.

Outcome

Since using Chifley, employee uptake of the course has grown and supervisors who have completed the course have all been promoted to senior positions.

ALS Coal Division is nominated for Employee of the Year at the Queensland Government Training Awards 2009.
